The research was conducted at Bodindecha (Sing Singhaseni) School in Thailand and the participant are 46 students from the 10th grade.
Why debate is choosen to be the technique to develop speaking ability? Debate has many advantages. those advantages are: it allows the students to share and cooperate well with their friends;  it makes them responsible; it encourages creativity; it makes the friendship deep and  builds rapport with the teacher; it motivates the students and make them enjoy the activity; it can improve the students’ speaking ability; it makes the students do more conversation; makes the student confident.

Aliponga, Jonathan. (2013). Reading Journal: Its Benefits for Extensive Reading, International Journal of Humanities and Social Science, 3(12), 73-80.

This article mainly discuss about students’ perception on how extensive reading could improve their reading ability. the participant of this research were sixteen japanese college students and they were asked by some questions through questionnaire. They have to response about the benefit of extensive reading in order to improve their reading ability. almost all of them respons positively and provided some reasons about their perceptions.
I personally think that extensive reading bring so much benefits. Extensive reading could improve their reading skill because when we read something that we interested in, our curiosity will increase and it makes us intentionally want to find more information about that. Beside that, it improves our communication skill. In the extensive reading activity, students were grouped and they have to share their idea or what they get from their extensive reading book and the others will give respons to their friend’s explanation. This way, they learn how to speak up. Extensive reading also could improve their writing skill because they have to write reading jounal everytime they read their book and this way, they have to conclude what they have read, they have to know what is the main idea of their book.
In conclusion, there are some benefits of extensive reading, for example, it could improve students’ reading skill, communication skill and writing skill. When I become a teacher, probably I will use this technique to improve my students’ reading skill. However, I have to make sure that their reading book is appropriate for them.

This article discuss how reading can improve students’ speaking skill. When we read a lot of books, journals or any written text in English, with or without we realize it, our vocabulary and grammar skill improved a lot. Vocabulary and grammar skill can improved well especially by extensive reading. When we read something in our pleasure, without burden feeling, we get more information than we read something in compulsion. We get new words and it’s meaning, we also remembering all the grammatical pattern if we read regularly.

If our vocabulary and grammar skill are improved, those skill will affect speaking skill as well. When we speak, vocabulary and grammar are important skills that we should have. Grammar is important because it helps us to make a comprehensible sentences in speaking. We can understand how language work if we pay attention on grammar, not only the word itself.

Sometime, we know what we are going to say in our mind, but we don’t know the suitable word to express our thought and that is because of the lack of vocabulary. Vocabulary also bring the confidence when we are speak and make us speak fluently because we know exactly what we are going to say in English.

In conclusion, reading can improve English speaking skill by improving vocabulary skill and grammar mastery.

Still about Extensive reading, this time I will discuss the role of extensive reading to improve students’ vocabulary. In this article, the writer tell the advantages of extensive reading, such it makes us willing to read English book because we choose our own book. It called free voluntary reading. Also, extensive reading can cause an increase in the range of vocabulary the learner possess. There are two groups as participants. The first one is experiment group and another one is control group. At the end of the term, those groups do a post test and there is a significant improvement in the experiment group.

However, there are some limitations about extensive reading. Usually it caused noise and students sometime find it difficult to concentrate on the exercise because of that matter. Another limitation is if they were given project by their main subject teacher, they will not attended English classes because they want to complete their project.

Despite of the limitations, extensive reading is an effective method to develop students’ vocabulary skill. I will still using this method when I become a teacher someday, of course I will try to find out how to overcome the limitation before I use this method.

This journal article mainly discuss how extensive reading improve students’ reading ability and the participants of the research in this article are college students in China. For myself, I think the condition of college students in China are similar with college students in Indonesia. They don’t really motivate to read an English book because it doesn’t interesting and they only read it because they have to. They need to pass the test that will given based on the book they have to read. However, by extensive reading, they feel comfortable to read in English because books that they read are based on their own interest, they read it because they want to. There is no burden or compulsion.

I personally have already experienced the different between intensive and extensive reading. With extensive reading, I feel motivate to read more and it makes my vocabulary increase. When I become a teacher, someday, I will definitely use this method. I think this method is really effective to improve students’ reading ability. In the end of the silent reading, students have to tell the others about what they have read and write it in a paper or log about the book. So, beside improve reading ability, Extensive reading also improve speaking and writing ability.
